Knots have a long history. In the past they were an integral part of daily life, indispensable for seamen, craftsmen, and farmers. Over recent centuries though, the need to utilize ropes and knots has been replaced by prefabricated means. Knots have, however, experienced a small renaissance among climbers who still use rope. Above all, friction knots have been refound, reinvented, and optimized by tree climbers for peak performance.

Dirk Lingens, a German arborist and self-confessed knot junkie, has collected and recorded knots commonly used in the arboricultural industry. There are also a few exotic and uncommon knots, and some are published here for the first time. The book is useful not just for arborists but for anyone with an interest in knots

Just OK Review by Al
It's OK. More of a collection book as far as it gives other known names for knots, and interesting side facts that are cool, but not relevant to work application. The illustrations are good enough if you already know a knotty foundation.
Kinda simple considering the high price.
For the beginner who needs to get familiar with arborist knot application, go with Jeff Jepson's 50 knots at work. Better structure, better price. (Posted on 5/21/2017)
